You must be at least 18 to rent a car in the UAE, depending on the class of vehicle you are hiring. You must present a valid license held for at least one year. Residents of the following countries can drive in the UAE without an International Driver’s Permit (IDP): Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the USA. All other customers must present a valid International Driver’s Permit with their national driver’s license at the time of rental.

Terminal 1 is DXB’s international terminal, handling most non-Emirates carriers, with the arrivals hall feeding directly into the parking area where your GMZ handover happens. The drill is simple: clear immigration, collect bags, walk out to the car. Popular first drives from T1 mirror the main airport page — Downtown and Dubai Mall (15 min), Deira and the Creek (10 min), the Marina and JBR (25 min). Returning the car works the same way: hand it back at departures or any Dubai location, free of charge.
